News: Team Plasmatreat - RTS Electronic at the Gran Fondo World Championship in Aalborg (Denmark)

Team Plasmatreat-RTS Electronic and team riders Svea Lüdorff and Daniela Gass arrived in Aalborg on Monday, August 26, 2024. Team boss David Buske has put together the perfect support team for this highlight, with technical manager Michael “Juppy” Jupe and physio Christopher Böddeker, to ensure a successful world championship.

Timing is everything, which is why both team riders took to the road race track on Tuesday. Daniela Gass, in particular, was very happy with the route after inspecting the course and has high hopes for the road race next Sunday.

But before the road race, team rider Svea Lüdorff has her showpiece discipline on the time trial bike. The course just outside Aalborg suggested even before the inspection that it would be susceptible to wind. So the wind blew from the east at 18Kmh during the race.

Svea Lüdorff started confidently and aimed for a place in the top 10. She shared this assessment with chief mechanic Michael Jupe and team boss David Buske. “Svea once again proved to be a mental monster here on site. She didn't show any nervousness at all. She was fully in the tunnel and went into the race with a clear plan,” said team boss Buske after the race, thoroughly satisfied with Svea Lüdorff's performance.

Due to the strong crosswind, Svea Lüdorff opted for spoked wheels on the rear wheel instead of riding with the disk. In the end, the decision was exactly right for Svea Lüdorff.

After the first split time at kilometer 4, Svea was in 10th place and her plan seemed to be working. “I wanted to start with 220 watts for the first few kilometers and then steadily increase. That worked really well, but I ran out of energy at the end on the long straight towards the finish,” said Svea, summing up her race. Exactly right, as could be seen later on the results wall. She finished in 12th place, 16 seconds behind 10th place.

“Of course we were aiming for top 10, but Svea is a very young rider with a hell of a lot of potential. We know what we have in her and apart from that, it's her first year as a pure cyclist and also her first world championship,” said David Buske at the end, happy with both coach and rider.

The action continues on Sunday with the road race, where the team's great hope Daniela Gass will be competing for the first time.
